CDP/IVR™ & Prime™ IVR

Vestibular rehabilitation
made immersive
The world’s population is getting older, leading towards more patients with vestibular disorders. This will increase the number of patients with dizziness, balance disorders and related symptoms. CDP/IVR™ combines computerized dynamic posturography (CDP) with immersive virtual reality (VR). Thereby, it can functionally evaluate vestibular disorders and determine an appropriate rehabilitation plan.

CDP/IVR™

What is computerized dynamic posturography (CDP)?

Computerized dynamic posturography (CDP) is a clinical technology that collects and analyzes force and motion data from a force plate. It enables you to address how your patient with a balance impairment uses sensory information to maintain balance. This includes vision, proprioception and the vestibular system. Computerized dynamic posturography (CDP) can also identify which of these sensory inputs might be causing the dizziness or related symptoms.

What is immersive virtual reality (VR)?

Immersive virtual reality (VR) is a proven method of rehabilitating patients with dizziness or related symptoms. CDP/IVR™ creates an immersive virtual environment, such as a three-dimensional supermarket. This provides the patient with an immersive experience in a controlled clinical setting. Virtual reality (VR) allows for vestibular rehabilitation in virtual worlds that resemble daily life.

What are the benefits of computerized dynamic posturography (CDP)?

Computerized dynamic posturography (CDP) can document functional impairments against normative data. Following, this technology can measure the progress as the patient gradually improves through the rehabilitation process.

What are the benefits of immersive virtual reality (VR)?

Immersive virtual reality (VR) offers real-life experiences for patients at any level. The immersion and interactivity can improve the patient's experience and thereby their rehabilitation. Immersive VR is also capable of stimulating peripheral vision, which is a critical component of visual spatial processing for orientation.

Computerized dynamic posturography with CDP/IVR™

CDP/IVR™ uses a force plate to measure changes in pressure. It is thus indicative of postural control. The dynamic function is provided through force-plate rotation, forward and backward translation and visual perturbation. The software contains standardized protocols for an objective assessment of the functional impairment and the following rehabilitation.

CDP/IVR™ functional assessment protocols

CDP/IVR™ comes with standardized assessment protocols. This is important when comparing test results with age-based normative data, which is included in the system.

  • Sensory Organization Test (SOT)
  • Motor Control Test (MCT)
  • Adaption Test (ADT)
  • Limits of Stability (LoS)
  • Rhythmic Weight Shift (RWS)
  • Weight Bearing Squat (WBS)
  • Unilateral Stance

CDP/IVR™ training protocols

  • Quick training
  • Mobility
  • Closed chain
  • Weight shifting
  • Seated training
  • Virtual reality (VR) training scenes
  • Optokinetic visual stimulus

Safeguard your clinical data

Both systems collect clinical data during balance training and save the data upon completion. You can export raw training data and merge it with other vestibular therapy systems from Bertec®.
