Customer story: Equinox Evo is an essential part of delivering diagnostic care

10 December 2025

At Newcastle Hearing Centre for Children, part of the Newcastle Health Enterprise in NSW in Australia, the goal is to provide “comprehensive and compassionate diagnostic services for infants through to adolescents”. With growing demand for complex pediatric assessments, the clinic relies on equipment that is clinically robust, efficient, and adaptable to a busy, multidisciplinary environment.

Melanie Dowling, Pediatric Audiologist at the hearing center, takes us through the value of using the Interacoustics Equinox Evo in their daily work with patients.

The challenges before upgrading to Equinox Evo

Before upgrading to the Equinox Evo, we were using older systems that didn’t offer the streamlined adaptability our service needed. Testing could feel cumbersome and disruptive – especially with children who benefit from assessments that are efficient, engaging, and responsive to their needs. Equinox Evo offered this immediately.

The solution: Equinox Evo

The Equinox Evo integrates and adapts seamlessly with our workflow, transitioning intuitively between assessment modes as needed. This is supported by the exceptional, compact PC-based unit that pairs with a range of display, control, and transducer options. These components can be configured in whatever way best suits the needs of the clinic.

Enhancing flexibility further is the ability to switch between different stimuli. Being able to move from warble to ManU-IRU or Ling sounds keeps things fresh and engaging, which is incredibly helpful when a child is losing interest or when testing becomes repetitive.

"Interacoustics has given us a solution and a level of support we genuinely trust. The Equinox Evo helps us deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, and the ongoing support has made the whole experience exciting and genuinely enjoyable."

Touch Keyboard: Significant advantage for pediatric work

We also rely heavily on the wireless Touch Keyboard. It allows us to move freely within the booth or between single-booth and two-booth setups, while still maintaining full control of the assessment. For pediatric work, this is a significant advantage. It gives children space to settle, supports more natural responses, and still maintains the accuracy we need.

We also really value the consistency and clarity of the data. In complex pediatric cases and in our work with ENT, having reliable results allows us to provide meaningful information for families and supports confident decision-making, leading to smoother and more predictable pathways.

To support her daily work with pediatrics, Melanie enjoys using the Ling-6 blocks and mat as part of her Equinox Evo solution.

Valued support from Interacoustics Australia

Taking on new equipment meant that strong support was essential for us, and the team [Interacoustics Australia, red] delivered exactly that. Whenever we’ve had questions, the local Australian support has been fantastic; prompt, helpful, and genuinely invested in resolving anything we raised.

When we needed clarification, particularly with features unique to the Equinox Evo, the team quickly connected with their overseas colleagues to provide answers. That level of thorough, responsive support has been invaluable and incredibly reassuring.
