Transcript

Welcome to your new Interacoustics Affinity Compact. In this video, we'll guide you through what's included in the box and how to connect your device so that you are ready to get started quickly and confidently.

Unboxing

Start by opening the box and removing all the components. The first thing that you will find is your device’s calibration folder. You can store this calibration folder inside the Affinity Compact carrying case. Inside the box, you will find the following hardware:

  • DD65 circumaural headphones
  • Patient response button
  • Ambient noise monitor microphone
  • B71 bone conductor
  • Power supply
  • The tester headset for monitoring the patient
  • A patient monitoring microphone
  • An SP100 loudspeaker
  • A PC USB cable
  • The REM headset
  • The main Affinity Compact device will come in protective housing

Make sure that you keep hold of any packaging as this may be needed when repacking the device for annual calibration.

Connecting the system

Now that you have confirmed all the required components, you're ready to connect the system.

DD65 headphones

First, plug the DD65 headphone jacks into the color-coded left and right ports on the Affinity Compact unit. Some devices may come with insert earphones instead. If so, ensure these are plugged into the insert ports instead of the headphone ports.

SP100 loudspeaker

The SP100 loudspeaker has a built-in kickstand to angle the speaker upwards. This kickstand can be folded down like so. Plug the SP100's jack connector into the yellow port labeled ‘FF1 Power’.

Bone conductor

The bone conductor transducer is color-coded green. Plug the jack connector into the green port labeled ‘Bone’.

Patient response button

Take your patient response button and plug the jack connector into the port labeled ‘Pat. Resp.’.

Tester headset

The tester headset has two connectors. The light green being for the audio monitoring and the pink connector for the headset microphone. Connect these jacks to their respective light green and pink ports on the Affinity Compact.

REM headset

The REM headset uses a DVA style connector. Make sure that you insert this connector the right way up and push firmly to seat the pins into the Affinity Compact. You will then need to tighten the small screws to either side of the plug to keep this secure.

Talkback microphone

The talkback microphone is plugged in next to the white port labeled ‘Talk B.’.

Power supply

The power supply comes in two parts. Connect the included kettle lead to the power brick and then plug the smaller connector into the Affinity Compact’s power port.

USB cable

Finally, connect the USB cable to the port labeled ‘USB-PC’ and then connect the other end to your PC or laptop.

The device will power on automatically when connected to both power and PC. Your Interacoustics Affinity Compact is now connected and ready to use.
