Balance testing in complete darkness! New Virtual SVV solution from Interacoustics

Interacoustics has announced the release of Virtual SVVTM that allows evaluation of otolith function supported by suggested thresholds.

Virtual SVVTM is an assessment tool to identify abnormalities within the otolith organ (utriculus) which can contribute to a head tilt reaction in patients. The solution can be used in the initial investigation of conditions such as acute vestibular neuritis, labrynthitis or acoustic tumors (Schwannoma). It can answer the question; does the patient perceive a sense of head tilt coming from a damaged otolith organ? The Virtual SVV TM is a compact and mobile solution consisting of a virtual reality goggle, a remote control and an intuitive software that makes it easy to interpret the data and afterwards safely store it in OtoAccessTM.

According to Interacoustics, this solution is an improvement over the outdated and less reliable 'bucket SVV' bedside test. It offers complete darkness, and the patient simply needs to align the candle to an upright position with the 'flame' being at the top. Along with the convenient goggle, the intuitive remote control also makes it easy to test children.

The new solutions has been released in CE countries.
